The two fast travel systems at a glance
Mirrors of Life are the large blue mirrors you find throughout the game. They restore Rose's health and set your respawn point, and they also connect to a shared room of mirrors. Each mirror you have discovered becomes a destination from that room.
The Ferryman works differently. You meet him by passing through a glowing blue door early in the game, and he then carries you between Ferryman's Wharf points. Wharves are fewer than mirrors, but each one can reach any wharf you have already found.
| System | How to use it | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mirrors of Life | Crouch in front of a mirror for a few seconds | Saving, healing and frequent short hops |
| Hall of Mirrors | Reached from any active mirror | Choosing any discovered mirror as a destination |
| Ferryman's Wharf | Go through a glowing blue door and talk to the Ferryman | Long trips between distant regions |
Neither system needs a shop purchase or a special item to start working. Mirrors are usable from your first discoveries, and the Ferryman joins once you find his door. The rest of this guide explains each one, the side quest tied to the Ferryman and the habits that save the most time.
How to use the Mirrors of Life
Stand in front of a Mirror of Life and crouch for a few seconds. An animation takes Rose into a room filled with mirrors. One guide suggests holding the crouch for about five seconds, though the exact time is not officially stated.
Inside that room, each mirror stands for a Mirror of Life you have already found. Walk to the one you want and crouch again to teleport there. You need at least two activated mirrors before the system is useful, since a single mirror has nowhere to send you.

In Dracula's Castle, a mirror shrine between two hooded statues uses an interact prompt, R1 on PlayStation or E on PC. The allthings.how walkthrough calls the hub on that side the Tower of Worldly Reflection, with each mirror labelled by destination. It is the quickest way to move between the Main Hall, the Elevator Tower and later areas.
The Ferryman and his wharves
The Ferryman appears early, behind a glowing blue door. One guide places that first door in the Catacombs of Paris. After the meeting, every glowing door you pass through on the map adds a new Ferryman's Wharf to his route.
Each wharf must be found and activated before you can travel there. The points are sparse for such a large map, which is the main limitation of this system. In return, a single boat trip can cross distances that would take several mirror hops.
Notre-Dame has its own wharf, according to the community wiki, along with three Mirrors of Life. Activate both kinds as soon as you arrive in a new region. Our Notre-Dame guide lists where those cathedral mirrors are.
The Ferryman's Obol and The Whisperer
The Ferryman eventually becomes a Tarot card and asks you to recover his coin. That coin is the Ferryman's Obol, found in Mammon's Lair after the Mammon fight in the Circle of Greed. Guides describe it as part of the gold hoard there, or as a reward chest.
Bring the Obol back and talk to the Ferryman. A golden orb appears and grants The Whisperer Arcana, which carries the Freezing Path spell. Freezing Path costs 35 MP, makes Rose intangible for a few seconds and freezes enemies she passes through.
Reaching Mammon takes some work, because his fight requires three eye relics: the Thrilling, Oozing and Trembling Eyes. Collect them during normal exploration, then return to the Gate of Flesh area in the Catacombs. The abilities guide covers how Freezing Path fits with your other Arcana.
Saving, healing and respawn points
Mirrors of Life are your save points as well as your teleporters. Touching one restores Rose's health and makes it the place you return to after death. That makes it worth activating every mirror you see, even if you do not plan to travel from it.
Before a boss, look for the nearest mirror and rest there first. If the fight goes badly, you restart close by instead of walking back through a cleared area. Guides note that most major boss rooms sit within a short run of a mirror. Resting first also refills your health before the first phase begins.
If you are on Switch or Steam Deck and play in short sessions, save at a mirror before closing the game. Leaving mid-area can cost you progress back to the last mirror. Our Switch guide and Steam Deck guide cover other handheld tips.
Tips to cut down backtracking
- Activate every Mirror of Life and every glowing Ferryman door the first time you see it.
- Use mirrors for short hops inside a region and the Ferryman for long cross-map trips.
- Mark ledges and blocked doors on the map so you can return straight to them later.
- After each new movement ability, plan one return trip that covers several marked spots.
- Save at a mirror before boss fights so a loss only costs a short walk.
The biggest return trips come after Smash, Aerial Rush and Double Jump. Each one opens paths you passed earlier, and fast travel brings you close to most of them. The Double Jump guide explains which ability opens what.
Mods, patches and what may change
On PC, a community mod on Nexus Mods adds a travel menu to every mirror, so you no longer walk through the mirror room. It is a fan-made, optional change and not part of the official game. Use mods at your own risk, and back up your save before installing anything.
The game launched on October 15, 2026, so guides are still settling small details such as exact door locations. KONAMI has already published a known-issues notice for other problems after launch. Check our known issues page if mirrors or the menu behave oddly, and compare with the sources below.
What to do in your first hours
Fast travel is easy to miss early, because the first few mirrors feel like simple save points. Crouch at the second mirror you find to open the mirror room and confirm the link works. From then on, every new mirror is worth a quick stop.
Watch for the first glowing blue door as you explore the lower parts of Paris. Meeting the Ferryman early means every later wharf joins his route the moment you pass it. Our beginner guide and walkthrough show where the opening areas lead next.
Later in the game, Dracula's Castle adds the mirror hub and more wharves, and travel becomes much faster. By the time you reach Notre-Dame, most regions should be a single trip away. If a region still feels far, look on the map for a mirror or blue door you walked past without activating.
